A Family-Owned Group

In 1893, Raphaël CHAUVIN and René ARNOUX joined forces to found Chauvin Arnoux. The journey has continued ever since, and the company has now become the parent company of the Chauvin Arnoux Group.

Our local roots and international outlook complement one another. An independent, family-owned company, the Chauvin Arnoux Group draws on over a century of French expertise.

Led by the fifth generation of the Arnoux family, the Group is now expanding its operations through numerous subsidiaries and international partners, thereby strengthening its global reach while preserving its historic values.

The Group is first and foremost a designer and manufacturer of measuring instruments, recognized for its technical expertise and commitment to quality. It designs its products in-house, from its eight design offices through to manufacturing, assembly, and testing carried out in its factories.

This comprehensive industrial control is ensured at its production sites based in France and at 3 of its 10 strategic international units (China, Italy, and the United States).

R&D Sites

With eight R&D centers around the world, the Chauvin Arnoux Group places innovation at the heart of its strategy.

Its 5 R&D laboratories located in France ensure direct proximity to its production sites and actively contribute to the region’s industrial vitality.

Internationally, three additional R&D centers round out this ecosystem, working closely with the specific needs of local markets. This multi-site organization enables the development of innovative, sustainable measurement instruments that meet global standards and expectations.

Engineers and technical experts work in synergy to anticipate market trends, integrate the latest technologies (embedded intelligence, connectivity, eco-design), and offer increasingly high-performance and targeted solutions.

Production Sites

The Chauvin Arnoux Group is today one of the few manufacturers in the market that maintains its own production facilities, ensuring complete control over the manufacturing process and product quality control stages.

In France, three production sites are located in Normandy (Vire, Villedieu-les-Poêles, and Pont-L’Evêque). They handle the manufacturing of measurement devices for the Chauvin Arnoux, Metrix, and Chauvin Arnoux Energy brands, from the production of mechanical parts to assembly and shipping, including the fabrication and wiring of printed circuit boards.

A fourth French site, in Meyzieu, in the suburbs of Lyon, designs custom temperature sensors under the Pyrocontrole brand for international markets.

Its three other factories in China, Italy, and the United States round out the Group’s production network, enabling it to offer locally tailored solutions, expand its product range, and reduce lead times.

As early as 1927, it designed the Universal Controller, followed by landmark innovations such as the magneto ohmmeter, the photoelectric exposure meter, and many others. With over 350 patents filed to date, it continues its mission of innovation to meet the needs of its customers and anticipate market trends.
